Rebuilt with next-gen visuals, HDR, motion controls, Joy-Con interaction, and touchscreen support, Layers of Fear: The Final Masterpiece Edition combines Layers of Fear 1 and 2, every DLC, and brand-new chapters into a single spooky package fully optimised for Nintendo Switch 2.
To bring this edition to the platform, we:
- Took full ownership of the Nintendo Switch 2 version and certification process, delivering the project on time and within budget
- Worked on the remastered edition, seamlessly porting two distinct titles – Layers of Fear 1 and 2, each utilizing different underlying systems – and three DLCs, effectively managing the technical complexity of dual game integration
- Working under a constrained schedule, we completed the full porting and certification process in just three months
- Implemented platform-specific features, including Joy-Con mouse, motion controls, touchscreen support, and HDR
- Optimized the original Lumen Global Illumination configuration to ensure lighting consistency with the source scene
- Upgraded Unreal Engine from version 5.2 to 5.5, resolving all related technical issues
- Updated Wwise to ensure compatibility with Nintendo Switch 2
- Adapted the game to fully comply with Nintendo’s certification requirements
- Successfully passed Nintendo certification on the first attempt
